The Show Up promise
Last updated October 5, 2026
Show Up only works if people can walk into a room of strangers and feel welcome. Everyone agrees to these four things when they join.
1. Show up, or free your spot
If you tap I'm going, go. If plans change, release your spot so someone on the waitlist can take it. Releasing less than two hours before start counts as a late cancel. Two late cancels in a month pauses your RSVPs to small groups for two weeks. Open groups stay open to you always.
2. Be kind to first-timers
Someone at every gathering is there for the first time, probably alone. Say hello. Hosts write a "what to expect" note and wear or carry something recognizable so newcomers can find them.
3. Public places only
Every gathering meets at a public venue with an exact address: cafes, parks, breweries, studios, coworking spaces. No private homes. No one-to-one meetups arranged through Show Up.
4. No selling, no hitting on people
Show Up isn't a dating app and it isn't a lead list. Don't pitch, recruit or pursue people at gatherings. If someone makes you uncomfortable, report them. A person reviews every report within 24 hours, reports are private, and we remove people who break this promise.
Hosts, additionally
- Pass a selfie verification before publishing.
- Keep your schedule accurate. If tonight moves or is cancelled, update it so no one is stood up.
- Mark no-shows honestly. Reliability scores depend on it.
- Carry your own waiver and insurance for higher-risk activities.
Age
Show Up is for people 18 and over. We confirm your birthday at sign-up and never show it to anyone.
Reporting
